Matooka Kids Couture is a brand-spanking new line of oh-so-fab clothes for girls. Their designs manage to strike a balance of sophistication, premium brand style and age-appropriateness--a combination that seems harder and harder to find. Let's see what my trusty little Test Driver has to say about Matooka.

Meet the Test Driver

Matooka Kids Couture had one Test Driver, spunky-and-funky Kailey.

Kailey Tested:
  • Matooka Kids Couture Entrenched Trench Coat
  • Matooka Kids Couture Jellybeans Shirt
  • Matooka Kids Couture Jellybeans Skirt

Kailey was over the moon with excitement over her Matooka items. And, if the number of exclamation points on her mom's review is any indicator as to how much she liked the items, I think it's fair to say Matooka was a hit with the Test Driver mom as well.

What really makes or breaks a designer kids' fashion line for me is
  • a) unique designs
  • b) attention to detail
  • c) age appropriate fashions
Kailey, her mom and I all agreed that Matooka hit it out of the park with the outfit and trench coat they sent to Kailey. The designs were interesting, flattering and appealing to both kids and adults. Their styles are absolutely age appropriate while maintaining a level of sophistication, which is really hard to achieve. And, the attention to detail is spot-on. I particularly like the heart buttons on the trench coat and the ribbon detailing on the Jellybeans shirt.

Kailey's mom said, "I loved the quality of the clothing!!! Each article of clothing was detailed without overdoing it. Kailey was very comfortable wearing the clothing, she could move around very easily and yet she looked like she was dressed to the nines!!"*

*I warned you about the exclamation points.

The Comfort Report

I am always making a big fuss about whether or not a kids' outfit is comfortable or not. I believe a comfortable kid is a happy kid, and that children should always be comfortable even when dressing up for special occasions.

When asked if the Matooka clothes were comfortable, Kailey's mom said, "To be honest, I think Kailey would have slept in this outfit if I had let her. She didn't want to take it off, and this girl is all about comfort. Yes, very comfortable."

Quality Check

Kailey's mom again had only positive things to say about the quality of the Matooka clothing. She was especially impressed with the extra detailing that she said is lacking in mall-brand kids' clothes. She said, "There are subtle gatherings on the skirt, ruffles on the neck of the top and a silky lining (and heart shaped buttons) on the trench coat. Everything matched perfectly but I also feel I could mix and match each piece with something else. The clothing is so detailed that you really wouldn't need to accessorize at all. I love the way the trench fits and looks on her. The hot pink silky lining really 'pops'!"
