Test Drive: Becky Bones Skater Inspired Shoes for Girls

Becky Bones is a radical line of girls' skater shoes that feature fun and funky designs. Their designs are in-your-face, colorful and stylish. But, not only are these cool skater shoes totally in style, but they encourage kids to think about and help the Earth. Becky Bones donates a full 25% of of their profits green projects like planting trees, starting recycling programs and more grassroots endeavors created by kids tweens and teens. Cool, huh?

Becky Bones had two fun and funky Test Drivers:

• 6-year old Eve test drove: Becky Bones by Osiris Youth Girls Serve
• 10-year old Audra test drove: Becky Bones by Osiris South Bronx Girls

Both sets of mom and daughter Test Drivers had mostly positive things to say about their Becky Bones shoes.

Audra's mom said, "These aren’t your everyday mall brand shoes, Audra loves the skater type style and I love the quality."

And Eve's mom reported that she and Eve liked the style, comfort and quality of the shoes. She also liked the "green" approach the company takes but wished they would take their efforts further. She said, "I was excited to read on the box 'save the earth, save yourself' and that 25% of profits are donated to earth friendly organizations. The box was made of recycled material and they created a punch out handle so that the box can be re-used. They even suggest using it as a lunch pale. However, I had hoped that the shoe would have been made out of earth friendly, sustainable or recycled materials. The company has a very positive earth friendly message that isn't carried out in their actual product as near as I can tell."

Kids, tweens and teens are rocking the skater look big time this season and the trend shows no sign of slowing down. What did our young Test Drivers think of these skater inspired girls' shoes?

Audra's mom said, "The first two days Audra wore them to school, several kids asked her where she got them. Her classmates really liked the splattered paint look."

Eve and her mom also liked the style of the shoes, stating, "[They are stylish] in a cute little girl punk rock way. They were right up Eve's alley. She liked the design a lot. The shoe even came with a choice of black or white laces. She choose the black laces."

I'm borderline fanatical about kids' shoes being comfortable and providing good support to growing feet. How did our Test Drivers feel about the Becky Bones shoes?

Eve's mom said, "They are padded really well. Eve fell in love with them the moment she tried them on. According to her, they are very comfortable. They seem to be breathable. For as padded as they are, she does not get hot or sweaty feet." She also added, "She is looking forward to wearing them on an upcoming trip that requires a lot of walking. She thinks she will be able to walk farther than her brother in her comfy shoes."

Audra also said her shoes were very comfortable. Her mom reported that Audra's Beck Bones shoes had plenty of support and padding.
