GapKids' new line 1969 premium jeans for kids aims to be the best fitting and highest quality kids' jeans on the market. They have re-engineered the 1969 jeans to fit kids' growing bodies with 4 fits for girls and five for boys.

The girls' fits include Super Skinny, Skinny, Boot and Straight, ranging in Slim, Regular and Plus sizes, and are available in a variety of washes. For an even better fit, the jeans are equipped with adjustable waistbands, making them ideal for hard-to-fit kids.

Meet the Customer

Anna is a soon-to-be 4th grader who is thin and small. She has a terrible time finding jeans that fit because she has an very slight build. Even jeans that have internal, adjustable waistbands do not fit her because the waistbands tend to bunch up too much, giving her a strange silhouette.

Gap challenged Anna to find a perfect fitting pair of jeans from their 1969 collection. If she met the challenge, Gap offered to pay for her new jeans. Let's see what she found...

The Try On

Previous to trying the 1969 jeans, Anna has found only one brand of jeans that fit her well. Unfortunately, that brand is expensive and her jeans usually run over $100. Her mother (me) would love to find a brand that fits and is affordable.

For this challenge, we grabbed every style available in a 6 slim. To our immense surprise, most styles fit her well and looked great. From straight legged styles, to super skinny jeans, pair after pair, actually fit.

The Style File

We were just amazed at how many different styles were available in slim sizes. As stated above, most all of the size 6 slims in the store fit Anna very well. Our favorites were GapKids 1969 Straight Leg Jeans in the Medium Wash with the flap pockets and GapKids 1969 Super Skinny Jeans in the Faded Light Grey Wash.

The fit on both of these jeans was nothing short of amazing. If I told you how many pairs of jeans this child has tried on without success, you would never believe it. When we discovered that the Super Skinny 1969 Gap Jeans fit and were actually fitted throughout, we really couldn't believe it. Anna has been searching and searching for fitted skinny jeans for about two years.

The denim feels sturdy and the jeans look stylish and on point with 2010's hottest Back to School looks. There are tons of styles available, so kids have a great assortment to choose from.

We were more than happy with the assortment of styles in slim-fit jeans. Anna tried on 10 different styles. She's never had such a choice before. Even though Gap agreed to purchase one pair of jeans, we bought a second pair ourselves and we got the 1969 Jeans Club card because we know we'll be back for more.

The price is right; both of the jeans we chose were priced at $29.50.
