At the peak of fall, I am most thankful for leggings. The stretchy form is easy for my three-year-old to pull on, and my seven-year-old can adjust the legs if she gets warm in heated buildings.
Though each girl has her own style, they both reach for leggings several times a week. My youngest daughter likes to wear hers under frilly dresses, while my oldest usually opts for a long top and edgier contrast.
As leggings have evolved from a fad to a staple, style options have multiplied. Colors, prints, fabrics, lengths and fits vary from tight and shiny to loose and soft. Girls don't have to play by hard and fast fashion rules -- they can wear different patterns on each leg, or sheen in broad daylight.
